DSM

TR stands for Text Revision. This new edition (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision DSM-5-TR) is an update of the DSM-5 with:
  • Fully revised text for each disorder with updated sections on associated features, development and course, risk factors, culture, suicide, differential diagnosis, and more.
  • Addition of prolonged grief disorder to Section II—a new disorder for diagnosis
  • New codes to flag and monitor suicidal behavior, available to all clinicians of any discipline and without the requirement of any other diagnosis
  • Modified criteria sets with helpful clarifications since publication of DSM-5
  • Fully updated ICD-10-CM codes implemented since 2013, including over 50 coding updates new to DSM-5-TR for substance intoxication and withdrawal
  • Updated and redesigned Diagnostic Classification

Periodic updates to DSM-5-TR will be posted on dsm5.org. The DSM-5-TR Update provides all changes and new information added to the book, including the updated excerpts of Major and Mild Neurocognitive Disorders, since its publication in March 2022.

Orders

Book orders will arrive in 5-10 business days. A shipping confirmation will be sent to your email address when your order is shipped. For journal subscriptions, the first issue will arrive at the beginning of the month corresponding to the journal's issue date. Back issues will arrive in 3-5 weeks. Please allow an extra 2 weeks for international destinations.

APA Publishing accepts purchase orders for subscriptions and book orders from institutions, hospitals, universities, government agencies and school districts. Unfortunately, we cannot accept purchase orders from individuals, APA members, and authors. We do not accept purchase orders for less than $250. Orders below $250 must be prepaid by check or credit card.

For orders requiring pre-payment, we can send a pro forma invoice based on your purchase order information. Pro forma invoices must be paid in full before the order will be shipped.

A valid purchase order must be an original document with the following information:
 
  1. Company Name
  2. Purchase order number
  3. Bill to and Ship to addresses
  4. Quantity, item numbers and descriptions
  5. Price (prices can be obtained by visiting www.appi.org or by calling 1-800-368- 5777)
  6. Shipping instructions. Customers have the option of using your own freight company.
  7. If not using your freight company, please add 9.5% of order total for shipping and handling. Shipping and handling applies to book orders, not subscriptions.

Standard shipping is via UPS ground. We require a street address to ship your order and cannot ship to PO boxes or APO addresses. Please contact Customer Service using the information at left (above on mobile) for next day delivery information and pricing. Your order should arrive within 5 business days after it has shipped from our warehouse.

If the confirmation page appears on the site after you place your order, then your order has been received by us. You will also receive a confirmation email after placing your order online.

Unless otherwise noted all titles are in stock and will be available for shipping as soon as the order is received. If a title is listed as 'Coming Soon' on the top of the page, it has not yet been published. However, you can place an order for this title and it will be shipped as soon as it becomes available.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Checks are accepted by mail only and should be made payable to American Psychiatric Association Publishing. View information on electronic transfers.

 

Subscriptions

APA journals and subscriptions are available on PsychiatryOnline.org. Login with your username and password to see your content. (Note that passwords are case sensitive.)

Starting in January 2022, the CME courses for AJPCME and Focus (beginning with Volume 20) will be available on PsychiatryOnline.org. Any AJPCME or Focus CME courses available prior to 2022 need to be completed on the APA Learning Center.

Discounts

If you are an American Psychiatric Association (APA) member, you are entitled to a 20% discount on all book orders. APA Resident-Fellow Members are entitled to a 25% discount on all book orders. The pricing for journal and PsychiatryOnline.org subscriptions already reflects a special discount price so no additional APA Member and APA Resident-Fellow Member discounts will be applied to subscriptions. Permissions and Licensing

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) grants permissions and licenses for use of our book and journal content as well as for our assessment measures and instruments, including the DSM. Please complete our permissions form and a member of our team will get back to you. Note that we cannot evaluate permissions requests by phone.

eBooks, Audiobooks, and Apps Questions

An eBook is an electronic version of a book. APA Publishing eBooks allow users to read publications on personal computers and mobile devices. APA Publishing eBooks retain the look of a printed book—with the layout, figures, and images intact—but fonts and font sizes are adjustable for closer study. Users can read eBooks online or download them for offline reading.

An audiobook is an electronic recording of a voice actor or actress reading a book. APA Publishing audiobooks allow users to listen to publications on personal computers and mobile devices. Users can listen to audiobooks online or download them for offline listening.

All APA Publishing eBooks and audiobooks have a sample available.

For audiobooks, click the "Play Sample" button below the cover image. Ensure your device is capable of playing audio and your volume is set to audible levels.

No. APA Publishing eBooks cannot be printed.

No. APAP does not provide a file for customers to download. APAP eBooks and audiobooks can only be read or listened to at ebooks.appi.org or through our mobile apps.

eBooks and audiobooks purchased on the APA Publishing website cannot be consumed on any other third-party reader (eg, Apple’s iBook app, Kindle, Audible, Barnes and Noble eReader, Stanza, Mobipocket Reader, Microsoft Reader). They must be accessed through the APA Publishing eBooks Reader apps (available in the Apple App store or Google Play store) or online at ebooks.appi.org.

Yes. You can read your eBook or listen to an audiobook offline, but only through APA Publishing eBook Reader apps (available in the Apple App store or Google Play store).

American Psychiatric Association Publishing does not encourage the sharing of username/login credentials between multiple users.

Purchasing issues

A link for your eBook or audiobook can be obtained by simply signing in to your account at ebooks.appi.org with your appi.org username and password. Your purchased eBook or audiobook will be available to sync to your device. A link is also available in your original confirmation email, and in your order history.

We are unable to accept returns or offer refunds on completed, downloaded eBook purchases. Once the eBook is purchased, the sale is considered to be complete and final.

Only a select number of titles are available as audiobooks. You can explore our audiobook titles by going to our Products list and clicking the "Audiobooks" checkbox on the left side.

Almost all new APA Publishing titles are released in both print and eBook formats. We also offer an expanding list of backlist titles as eBooks. You can explore our eBook titles by going to our Products list and clicking the "Ebooks" checkbox on the left side.

APA Publishing eBooks are encrypted PDF or ePub2 files.

You can view APA eBooks online via computer (PC or Mac) at eBooks.appi.org (internet connection required) or download to the APA eBooks Reader apps (iOS or Android) for offline viewing.

eBooks and audiobooks purchased on the APA Publishing website cannot be downloaded as a file and cannot be read on any other third party reader (eg, Apple’s iBook app, Kindle, Audible, Barnes and Noble eReader, Stanza, Mobipocket Reader, Microsoft Reader). They must be accessed through the APA Publishing eBooks Reader apps (available in the Apple App store or Google Play store) or online at ebooks.appi.org.

APA Publishing eBooks and audiobooks cannot be downloaded or copied to a flash drive.

APA Publishing eBooks cannot be printed.
