Peter Manu, M.D. is Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Director of Medical Services, South Oaks Hospital in Amityville, New York.

Corey Karlin-Zysman, M.D. is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Associate Medical Director at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York.

Eugene Grudnikoff, M.D. is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Unit Chief, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, New York.

This is the third edition of a seminal book first published in 2006. The first author, Peter Manu, a distinguished internal medicine specialist, has been imbedded in psychiatric programs as a key faculty member for several decades, actively participating in clinical and research activities. Professor Manu is also a leading national and international expert on functional somatic syndromes. The two other editors are psychiatrists, also based at Long island Jewish. The book includes 33 chapters, each chapter focusing on a specific medical issue that is quite relevant for patients suffering from mental disorders and particularly to professionals working in mental health settings. Each of these chapters has been neatly crafted and prepared by experts, and elegantly framed by the editors within a succinct, user-friendly, colorful format that includes a brief illustrative clinical vignette at the beginning of each chapter. This third edition presents a more streamlined approach to some of the common medical complications clinicians may encounter in psychiatric settings.
