Step-by-Step Guide to eBooks 

  1. In order to read or manage eBooks on your computer, you first will need to download and activate the free eBook file-reading software, Adobe Digital Editions. (Please note: Adobe Digital Editions is a different product from the more common Adobe Reader.) Using Adobe Digital Editions, you can also transfer your eBooks to a compatible eReader or other device. In order to share an eBook among your devices, you must have an Adobe Digital Editions username and password. If you have trouble downloading Adobe Digital Editions, please contact Digital Editions Help.
  2. After activating Adobe Digital Editions, test your software and system configuration with free sample eBook. We recommend that you do this before placing your order, as eBook purchases are nonrefundable.
  3. You can search for eBooks or browse eBooks by subject area. Once you have chosen the eBook you would like to buy, simply add it to your shopping cart.
  4. Once your payment has been accepted, you will be taken to a confirmation page that will prompt you to download your eBook. The download process will usually take between two seconds and two minutes, depending on the speed of your connection. Your Adobe Digital Editions reader will open automatically and install your new eBook into your library. Instructions are provided throughout the downloading process and available here. You can now read your eBook or transfer it to a compatible device.

iPad/iPhone users: You will also need to download the free Bluefire eReader application to your device. Please refer to our Bluefire step-by-step guide.
