Reviews

"An excellent, readable handbook that will guide clinicians including medical students, general and child psychiatry residents, and pediatricians, in recognizing and caring for children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. This guide will also be helpful to teachers, special educators, nurses, social workers, judges and even sophisticated parents who need an up-to-date framework and bridge to understanding child psychiatric reports."—Michael Jellinek, M.D., Chief, Child Psychiatry Service, Massachusetts General Hospital, Professor of Psychiatry and of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts

"The third edition of the Concise Guide to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is an excellent resource for medical students, adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry residents (and a very useful quick review for the more experienced practitioner). It has been updated to include most of the recent research on diagnosis and treatment of childhood disorders, including practice parameters and evidence-based treatments. Diagnostic criteria from the DSM-IV-TR have been included. It is a ‘must read’ for those learning about child and adolescent psychiatry or those looking for an updated description of diagnostic and treatment issues in this field."—Robert J. Harmon, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics, Director, The Irving Harris Program in Child Development and Infant Mental Health, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver, Colorado

"Originally printed in 1991, the guide is now in its third edition. Following the accelerated pace of new research in child and adolescent psychiatry, the contents have been updated, and now relevant data have been incorporated into the text. Every effort has been made to include information that is as comprehensive as possible while maintaining the simplicity and brevity intended by the design of the book."—Ayesha Mian, M.D. and Cynthia W. Santos, M.D., Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, June 2005
