The American Psychiatric Association (APA) appreciates that you provide us with your personal data. We will not disclose, sell, share, or rent your email address or credit card number to any third party.

What Personal Information Does APPI.org Collect?

We collect personal information such as your name, address, credit card information, etc., which allows APPI.org to complete your transactions. Provision of other, non-essential information requested is voluntary. Below you'll find a list of the personal information we collect from you, and a brief description of how that information is used at APPI.org:

  • Transaction Information
    Transaction information is needed to complete your purchase and includes your name, contact information, and credit card data. This information is stored with each transaction and shared with the appropriate third parties facilitating the transaction (for example, credit card authorization companies). We will provide only the information necessary to ensure your order is finalized. We do not retain any credit card information after the transaction is completed. We comply with the PCI Data Security Standard.
  • Customer Service Communications
    When you provide your email with your transaction, you will only receive emails about your orders or subscriptions (for example, titles on backorder, information on how to access online subscriptions, and tracking information). You will not be sent promotional emails unless you opt-in.
  • Promotional Emails and Newsletters
    These email alerts send information about new titles, important information, and free content. You will only receive this email if you opt-in. Please click here to opt-in.
  • Customer Profile Information
    When you sign up for email notification at APPI.org, we will ask you to provide us with your name and email address. You can also provide us with optional information such as areas of interest and occupation. We will use your customer profile information to tailor your email newsletter to your unique preferences.
  • Usage Tracking Information
    APPI.org servers collect software client information, such as IP addresses, browser versions, operating systems, and pages accessed during APPI.org sessions. This information is used in an aggregated form (e.g. number of pages accessed) to view site usage patterns, and is not tied with any of the other personal data you have provided to APPI.org.

We use technology which encrypts your information (name, address, credit card number, etc.) before it is transferred across the Internet from your computer to our secure server in order to protect your personal information.

Modification of Policy 
APA reserves the right to amend this privacy policy at any time with no advance notice. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post all changes on the APPI.org homepage.
