How do I know if I can read eBooks downloaded from appi.org on my device?

Answer

APP eBooks can be read on any device that supports the eBook format you purchase (either EPUB or PDF) and that is supported by Adobe Digital Editions. You can purchase and download your eBook directly to the device if it includes a web browser and Adobe Digital Editions. Or, you may transfer the eBook to a supported device from a computer with Adobe Digital Editions installed. EBooks ordered on appi.org are compatible with most eReaders.
  • iPad and iPhone phone users can order directly from appi.org. After downloading Adobe Digital Editions on your computer and purchasing your eBook, you'll need to download the free Bluefire eReader application to your device. For instructions, please see our Bluefire step-by-step guide. You may also order from the Apple iBookstore.
  • Kindles use proprietary software, and will only display eBooks purchased directly from Amazon. APP eBooks are not available through Amazon at this time.
  • Android users, please check to see if the e-reader on your device is supported by Adobe Digital Editions.
  • Sony users can either download Adobe Digital Editions and use it to manage your eBooks, or use the software that came with your Sony reader. If you use your Sony software and don't download Adobe Digital Editions, when you click on your download link at the end of the ordering process, your eBook should automatically open in your Sony software.
  • Nook users can order directly from appi.org, using Adobe Digital Editions to manage and transfer your eBook. You may also order on barnesandnoble.com.
  • Kobo users can order directly from appi.org, using Adobe Digital Editions to manage and transfer your eBook. You may also order on kobobooks.com.
