In addition to being able to purchase APP eBooks on appi.org, you can also purchase APP eBooks from many online booksellers, including Barnes & Noble, Google Play, Kobo, eBooks.com, and the Apple iBookstore.
Your confirmation e-mail includes a link to your eBook download. If you cannot find your confirmation e-mail, please check your spam folder. You can also retrieve the link by going to My Account on appi.org and clicking on the order number under Order History. You may also contact firstname.lastname@example.org to request a new download link.
Your eBook should automatically open in Adobe Digital Editions. Once you have closed Adobe Digital Editions, the eBook can be found by simply opening Adobe Digital Editions and checking the Library section. You can also locate the file in the default download directory on your computer. The default location in Windows is the 'Digital Editions' folder in 'My Documents.' In Mac OS, the default location is the 'Digital Editions' folder in 'Documents.' If you have downloaded an EPUB file, you can search for recently added files with the file extension “.epub.” PDF files have the extension “.pdf.”
Adobe Digital Editions is a free software program used to view and manage eBooks. You will need to download Adobe Digital Editions in order to purchase and download eBooks from APP and transfer eBooks from your computer to other devices. You can use Adobe Digital Editions to manage eBooks from sources other than APP, and to organize all of your eBooks into a custom library. Before installing Adobe Digital Editions, please check that your system meets the Adobe Digital Editions system requirements.
If you see a "resume pending tasks" or "error getting license" message while using Adobe Digital Editions, simply click "ok" and you will be able view your eBook. If your problem concerns downloading or opening Adobe Digital Editions, please contact Digital Editions Help.
Most of our eBooks are offered in EPUB format, a widely supported, reflowable format that allows you to change the font size for easy reading. For several of our titles, for which the preservation of the exact look of the print book is important, the title is offered in PDF format, a fixed format that looks just like the printed book.

APP eBooks can be read on any device that supports the eBook format you purchase (either EPUB or PDF) and that is supported by Adobe Digital Editions. You can purchase and download your eBook directly to the device if it includes a web browser and Adobe Digital Editions. Or, you may transfer the eBook to a supported device from a computer with Adobe Digital Editions installed. EBooks ordered on appi.org are compatible with most eReaders.
iPad and iPhone phone users can order directly from appi.org. After downloading Adobe Digital Editions on your computer and purchasing your eBook, you'll need to download the free Bluefire eReader application to your device. Yes. Adobe Digital Editions is available for the Mac. Currently, Adobe Digital Editions only works on Mac OS 10.5 or later.
Almost all new APP titles are released in both print and eBook formats. We also offer an expanding list of backlist titles as eBooks. See our eBooks page to find a particular eBook title. If there is an APP book you would like to see as an eBook that isn’t currently in that format, please contact us at email@example.com and let us know.
APP eBooks come with certain restrictions (also known as DRM or Digital Rights Management) for the protection of copyrights. When you purchase and download an eBook directly from APP, you have the right to:
- Download the eBook 4 times (with the same Adobe ID).
- Access the entire book with no expiration date.
- Read the eBook on up to 6 devices.
No portion of APP eBooks can be printed or copied. APP eBooks cannot be sent to another user due to copyright restrictions.
APP charges a 5% sales tax on all orders from Virginia.
