How long will it take to receive my order?
Book orders will arrive in 5-10 business days. A shipping confirmation will be sent to your email address when your order is shipped. For journal subscriptions, the first issue will arrive at the beginning of the month corresponding to the journal's issue date. Back issues will arrive in 3-5 weeks. Please allow an extra 2 weeks for international destinations.
What is FOCUS?
FOCUS is a quarterly journal which provides a comprehensive review of content based on ABPN recertification exam. Each issue includes a CME exam and a subscriber could receive 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for a total of 20 per year. An additional 20 hours can be earned through the completion of the Self-Assessment Exam which is sent with year’s final issue – Fall. The maximum number of credits available is 40. Subscriptions are based on the calendar year with January (Winter issue) as the first issue. If you subscribe in the middle of the year you will be sent any issues from that volume that have already been published.
Does American Psychiatric Publishing accept purchase orders?
Yes, we accept purchase orders for orders above $250. Credit card payment is required for orders less than $250.00 Bookstores and institutions may fax purchase orders to 703-907-1091. Please include your email address for shipping confirmation.
How will my order be shipped? Standard shipping is via UPS ground. We require a street address to ship your order and cannot ship to PO boxes or APO addresses. Please contact Customer Service for next day delivery information and pricing. Your order should arrive within 5 business days after it has shipped from our warehouse.
How do I know if my order was accepted?
If the confirmation page appears on the site after you place your order, then your order has been received by us. You will also receive a confirmation email after placing your order online.
How do I know if a book is currently in stock?
Unless otherwise noted all titles are in stock and will be available for shipping as soon as the order is received. If a title is listed as 'Coming Soon!' on the top of the page, it has not yet been published. However, you can place an order for this title and it will be shipped as soon as it becomes available.
My DSM-5 seems to be of inferior quality. How can I tell whether my copy of the DSM-5 (or DSM-5 related title) is a fake copy (counterfeit, pirated version)?
There are three major indicators that can help you determine whether your DSM-5 copy is an authentic copy or a counterfeit: point of purchase, price, and quality.
Copies purchased directly from the American Psychiatric Publishing through our website www.appi.org, our booths at meetings, or via our catalog, are guaranteed to be authentic copies. American Psychiatric Publication books are also available through retailers and distributors. If you have purchased from an unauthorized seller at a very low cost, you might want to examine the quality of the book. Signs that your copy might be a counterfeit book include: missing pages, a different cover color, bad binding, misspellings, ink smears, incorrect headings, misaligned type setting, or low quality paper.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a replacement or issue a refund for copies not purchased directly through us. If you would like a request a refund or an exchange, please contact your point of purchase directly. We strongly encourage you to contact the online marketplace (such as Amazon, EBay, etc.) to report unauthorized sellers of counterfeit books. In addition, you might want to leave a review on the seller’s profile, indicating that the particular seller has sent you a counterfeit copy. You can also submit a counterfeit complaint to us by sending a copy of your receipt to email@example.com. We are unable to issue a replacement copy or a refund, but we will compile all complaints received and notify the online marketplace about counterfeit books.
